Perfect
“Ok, bunny rabbit. I love you!” I said then hung up. I turned on the TV to the cartoons channel. The one where Bugs is a barber was just getting started. I placed the fan right in front of me and sat down to watch and wait for bunny rabbit to come home.
While I watched I thought about how much I loved her. She was definitely a keeper.
I roused when I heard her jiggling her key into the lock. It was already dark out.
Bunny rabbit stepped inside and switched on the lights. My breath caught. Her mouth was almost clamped shut with wires and bands all around. She looked nothing like herself.
“What happened?” I said.
“Nothing,” she muttered. “It was time.”
“But I love your teeth!”
“Well, I don’t,” she said. “And turned that off—you’re not a child,” she added, glancing at the TV where now Buggsy was a bullfighter, and then went straight into the bedroom.
“But—“
In the morning, she began emptying the living room. Paintings, toys, blankets—everything that had rabbits on, looked like, or even alluded to—she threw away.
“What are you doing?” I said. “Leave my things alone.”
“This isn’t us, beaver,” she said.
“Yes, it is,” I said, snatching from her eager hands my favorite beaver-themed coffee mug. “We have big teeth and we’re proud of it.”
She left that night.
The last time I dared stalk her social media, she sported a perfect, generic smile in all her photos.
I put my phone away and turned on the TV—the “wabbit season” one was on.

Oh man, kinda rough if he called her "Rabbit" if she was sensitive about her teeth.
Makes me think she originally wasn't, but somebody got to her over time
